There is no number to call on the box and the food safety dot com people are not working today because it is  a holiday.

I bought a box  of shepherds pie 10 days ago. It was frozen, but I put it in the fridge by mistake. The directions say to cook from frozen, but that is long gone. Is it safe to eat if I cook it to the internal temperature posted in the directions?  I cooked it and it smells good, but, I don't know if I should eat it. Help.

@geegerbee Being that it's been unfrozen for 10 days I would get rid of it. A day or so might have been ok but not 10.

@geegerbee - I'm sorry to say that I agree with the other posters—I know it's sad to throw away food, especially with today's prices, but it's just not worth your health or well being. Take it from someone who has had a horrible bout of salmonella...  Smiley Frustrated

"Cook from frozen" means just that. Do not let thaw. The FDA sets the guidelines for frozen food prep. Throw it out if it has thawed.

Ten days is a long time to keep prepared food then expect to eat it.  I usually think people are overly cautious but this one is iffy.

I have had food poisoning before so I wouldn't eat it. I'm leary of what I eat. I don't want to get sick.
