Food processor recommendations

I've had a small-ish Kitchen-Aide food processor for a couple of years, since they introduced the models that all the blades store inside the bowl and the lid latches, it doesn't twist on to lock.  A couple of weeks ago I was grating swiss cheese for quiche and bang, the motor stopped.  I tried everything, no go.  DH took it apart and could not find anything obviously wrong (it was looooong out of warranty), so he recycled the parts he could, and now I have a bowl and a bunch of blades and no motor.  For obvious reasons I hesitate to buy another of the same brand, so I'm asking for your experience of different brands.  My first food processor was a Sears model that worked for 20+ years, I donated it when we bought a Vitamix (which now sits unused in my closet, should have kept the food processor!) and then I bought the Kitchen-Aide.  I think I remember that Cuisinart pioneered the machine here in the US decades ago, so are they still the best, or is there an even better one now?  Thanks in advance for any advice or experience you care to share!

Re: Food processor recommendations

@CamilleP  Hi. I've had my Cuisinart for several years now and it's still perfect! If I had to repurchase one I would most likely stick with that brand. HTH 🙂

Re: Food processor recommendations

This is a solid consensus, thank you everybody!  Now to decide if I want to order online or wait until things open up again and shop in person.  Thanks again!

[ Edited ]

Macy's is having a free shipping and 30% off event.

I looked at a Cuisinart and the price was better than any place else.

(I would never buy a KA again ... mine lasted less than 2 years).

I'm trying to decide if I should get the 8 cup or 11 cup, both are on sale.

FYI:  I ordered the Cuisinart Elemental 8 cup and it was on sale for under $80 after all the discounts and free shipping.

I don't do big jobs anymore and now have limited space.

Re: Food processor recommendations

Cusinart is what I vote for. My first one lasted 20 years--  bought a new one a few years ago from Macys.
