Floral Lace brown borders, why?

[ Edited ]

This may be a recurring question, if so just disregard as I would eventually search if no repies: I am wondering why the Floral Lace motif Temp-Tatiana of all kinds has mostly brown borders.

Not all (which makes it equally puzzling) but most do. I find it makes the lovely pattern piece look UGLY

Why is it designed that way, why the extra labor, why not just leave be with white dots? So many questions that are totally 1st world issues I know. It's just puzzling tof me.

I'm guessing that the designer thought the brown edges to be different and attractive and viola.... brown edges.  Woman Happy

I agree about the brown. It is as @Q4u stated though. They seem to sell. Not to me though. I do own cake pans in the navy fl and they are usually an item I would not set my table with. I would prefer just white trim as there is nothing brown in my kitchen or dining room. I like the way they bake for the most part. I did have a small flat piece break spontanously in my cabinet , so I have purchased carefully since then. I'm with you I just think they wold be more attractive minus the brown trim .

Re: Floral Lace brown borders, why?

I collect the colbalt blue floral lace and I don't mind the brown borders. My preference would have been to continute the blue instead of white but I much prefer the brown to the extreme color combinations in the summer series. I love the hot pink or the teal but the border colors of lime green and yellow were a big "no " for me.

I did purchase a few pieces in the Vintage Grace pattern and am really liking the solid color and pattern in that collection. I do mix and match the pieces that I have but would love to have one large complete collection that would satisfy all of my needs.

Wow, breaking spontaneously in your cabinet?  I've had one break in the oven at 350...  I only had one set and it was (I believe) the first TSV.  I don't collect them because of this.  I prefer Gloria's Polish Stoneware (The Zanger Co. online).... expensive but in all the years I've collected, I've not even chipped one and I use them daily as it's my dishware as well and I've knocked it around.  I've learned a lot about the clay that's used in these pieces (and Temptations as well), as well as the artistry and the firing.  There's a reason the Temptations brand is so inexpensive.  For the money, it's fine, but it can have it's moments out of the blue .....

I also collect the floral lace in cobalt blue........I love the contrasting brown border trim but I do not like the "white beading" as it tends to chip easily.  I would have preferred a smooth brown border trim.  The old world style has a smooth border but I just love the floral lace design.....

This is why I'll only purchase seasonal or eggplant FL, neither of which have brown borders.

Re: Floral Lace brown borders, why?

I agree.  Hate the brown border so I won't buy.  Love it in the teal and wanted for my florida home but she messed up and made a brown border on it.  Also tired of the same old patterns.  Give us something new,
