I was buying fresh shrimp at my supermarket yesterday and while waiting my turn I checked out the fresh salmon in the case I saw Faroe Island salmon for $14.99 a pound I have been ordering from qvc on auto delivery for several years now and will continue to because it is indivually frozen, always the same delicious quality and so convenient when cooking for myself. I usually buy when it is on a special and get auto delivery. Never had an issue with delivery or taste, and portion size is perfect for me.

I hope that's a typo in the price per pound.

DH buys the Kirkland brand of frozen bags with 7 individually wrapped portions in each bag from Costco...much cheaper than QVC. He'll usually buy 2 bags at a time.
LOVE Costco ![]()

I eat a lot of salmon, but only buy wild caught.
Faroe Island salmon is farm raised and too expensive for what it is.

DS was buying salmon from Whole Foods, not often, but as a change up from other fish.
I got him the last TSV of Faroe Island Salmon and he said it was far superior to Whole Foods.
Glad he enjoyed it! That's it for 2025 gifting. 😁

Faroe Island salmon is farm raised. I order wild Alaskan Coho salmon from the Costco website (not from the warehouse). It has a mild flavor, not fishy. Each filet is vacuum sealed. There's a ton of it in the package, 20-24 filets, so I share it with our kids and there's still plenty for us. It keeps well in the deep freeze.
ETA - each portion weighs 6-8 oz. The price per piece comes out to $8.33 - $10.

I'm wondering, you say you buy fresh shrimp and saw fresh salmon. You must live near the coast in order to get it fresh. If you don't live near a coast where they catch the fish and sell it immediately then you are getting re-frozen and defrosted food. I was told by the butcher at my market never buy fish at the market that is frozen unless you live at the coast. Otherwise it has been frozen and defrosted too many times to get here. That's not good.

That's delicious salmon. Had it a friend's house and they told me they got it from Costco. I looked at it online and I was hoping to find a smaller package. Ten pounds is way too much for just myself plus I don't have room in my freezer for it either. Too bad b/c I really enjoyed it.

Supposedly the Faroe Island fish is frozen once right after caught and first time defrosted is when we do it at home.
Agree with you completely about non coast fish markets, defrosted frozen defrosted etc.
Big difference in fish here in Denver than what we had in SF growing up.

@SilleeMee - maybe when your friend orders it again they'll let you go in on part of it with them so you can buy a manageable amount.
