You know, if I'm going to eat something not great for me, I want it to be REALLY good. That chicken sure hit the spot the other day! For fried chicken, it wasn't dripping grease like some I have had.
We have found over the years that there is a difference in the individual Popeye's around the country. The best we've ever had were in and around New Orleans! They REALLY know how to make chicken in that area and spice it just right.

LOL Husband won't allow any Tex /Mex or to spicy stuff in house.
I get take home while he's gone and sneak in house and eat my taco while the coast is clear. LOL

After hearing so many good things about Popeye’s, I was excited when one opened up near me. Meh:/
I do like Raising Cane’s fried chicken fingers though — nice and tender. I don’t care for their sides though.

Love me some Popeye's. LOL!!! Used to eat there when we were out of town since we did not have a Popeye's. They finally opened one here last year so we eat some place we don't have when we go out of town.
I love the mild chicken tenders. I eat 2 of those with a biscuit plus a few fries. DH loves their red beans & rice.
We had shrimp & chicken tender basket last week. It was really good.

When I lived in Chicago it would be Brown’s Chicken first and then Popeyes. Culver’s has good chicken too if there are any of those out there close to any of you.

A Popeye's opened up just down the street years and years ago. Never ate there, but heard such good things about them, I looked them up on the 'net.
At that time, several years ago, MSG was in almost everything on their menu. I personally don't have an issue with it, but I figured if I'm going to eat out, very rarely, I'm going to skip anything that I know has MSG. Shouldn't be necessary.
Don't know if that's still the case. JMO.

I wait until I get all the chicken sizzling in the skillet before I add the butter.

I use a Fry Daddy to fry my chicken. Only uses 4 cups of oil. It is factory preset at 375 drgrees. I dredge the chicken in seasoned self rising flour. The makes it light and crunchy. I fry it for 13 -15 minutes.
My dad would flour it, and set it set in the refrigerator for a while to set it. Then he'd fry it 13-15 minutes at 375 degrees. He put it on a rack on a sheet pan in the oven, set at 200 degrees until all the chicken was fried.
I watched how the restaurant Martha Lou's fried their chicken. It is located in Charleston, SC. It is seasoned with spices overnight in the refrigerator. Then she dredged it in self rising flour, then dipped it in a water/milk mixture, then flour again. Then fried it at 350 degrees for 15 minutes for white meat and 20 minutes for dark meat.

I hadn't even thought of fried chicken in years & years - until this current season of Top Chef.
One of the 'cheftestants', Chris, who's known for cooking upscale soul food, made lemonade fried chicken & some crackled, brown sugar biscuits. ![]()
Everyone RAVED!
I wanted some!!!
I'd sure love to have the recipes.
