Re: FOOD PROCESSOR USERS...

[ Edited ]

A couple years ago I bought the Kitchenaid 13 cup food processor on QVC MAINLY because it had a dicing kit.  I have a large garden and produce a lot of veg that I store away - some frozen, some freeze dried and some canned.  I can't imagine going back to knife dicing carrots, beets, potatoes and even chuck roast for soups.  With that dicing kit its is so quick and easy - takes all the drudgery out of the preparation piece.  I also use the processor for slicing cabbage for cole slaw, cheese, ham.  Also it's great for kneading bread and  making pizza dough. Cme with dicing kit and 5 different blades.  This thing does everything, I also bought off KA site the companion KitchenAid cordless 5 Cup Food Chopper 2 speed with whisk accessory disk KFCB519BM.  It has the drizzle feature which is great for dressings and that whisk disk is super for making home-made mayo, making small batch whipped cream.  Both are fantastic and I can wholly recommend.  Usually when QVC drops products from their inventory they are still available on KA site.  I know the 5 cup food chopper is on Amazon for $99 and 13 cup processor is on sale KA site $249 model KFP1319BM in blk, silver, red and white.  Both are spendy but I've never enjoyed using appliance like these.  KA always makes a superior product - both mine are going strong now 3 yrs later.

And is now available "As Is" on QVC for $169 in 3 installments of $56.33

 - what a bargain.  I ouldn't shy away from the "As Is" product I'm sure this was a demo model on stage set.

I use it for  veggies and grating cheeses but also for making pie pastry and have used it for kneading bread too. It's great for making bread crumbs and chopping nuts/choc. . But mostly to combine and smooth ingredients.

I love my Kitchenaid for slicing, love I can set different thickness, and dicing.  So quick and easy.  If I need finer pieces I use the chopping blade.  So easy to make chicken, tuna, or egg salad.  Can't imagine being without it.

@Flatbush

I used to use my very small Cuisinart chopper to mince garlic cloves for making huge batches of marinara sauce.  Then I discovered minced garlic in a jar with water.  Decided to mince the minced garlic: final product became " liquefied garlic " which made the sauce even better, I.e., no nits to bite into !

If you try this, you need to keep a watchful eye on the liquified garlic when you heat it or it will burn !

I use mine to grind chicken breast into ground chicken.  Also, I make falafal in mine.
