I get 3-4 days.  

Do you discard ALL leftovers in 4 days?  Soup?  Meatloaf?  Cooked veggies?

Food safety wise, all food is usually 3 days.  Part of my job is to do food safety audits and there is nothing with a longer shelf life.  

Bacteria grows pretty quickly in home refrigeration especially.

WOW!  Really?  I am shocked.  My mom kept leftovers until they got eaten!  Never got sick from it.

Yep, mine did too and I'm actually shocked that I didn't get violently sick now that I know what I’ve been trained and certified to know. 😃

I do the 2-day after rule. If I cook something on Monday, it's either used or frozen by Wednesday. No exceptions. I hear about people cooking on Saturday to make/package their work lunch meals for the whole following week and it grosses me out. I would never do that.

@Zhills  For some reason I thought you could keep pasta dishes a day or two longer. Maybe because I like pasta better the next day.

No.  Food is too expensive to discard.

I freeze leftovers after 2 days. Even if it's a small amount they ca e added to something else like soup or red sauce.
