Your local Big Lots may be the place to go. Big Lots stores have anywhere from one to four 'bakery return' racks, depending on how many different distributers are in your area. Ours has Entenmann's/Arnold products on one rack.
Another rack for Flowers/Southern Bakeries (Natures Grain, TastyKake, Golden Flake, Outback Honey Wheat loaves, the rolls used at Krystal's as well as other fast food places, Southeastern Mills mix products, and the hard to find New England hot dog buns so you can duplicate a Maine lobster roll. Also Hostess & Wonder Bread).
My TastyKake go-to is either Butterscotch Krimpets or my all time favorite, but fairly new to TastyKake are the Chocolate Bells. At the bakery outlet stores full boxes of these go for $1 around the 25th of the month. They don't bring 'em into Big Lots - you have to be there when the driver is - they will bring in and price just what you want.
Going price for Entenmann's Chocolate Covered doughnuts at BL is $2 a box ($1.60 on discount days). Arnold Potato Bread is $1.40 ($1.12 on discount days). Don't ask me what they get for the other Entenmann's products. I only eat the chocolate covered doughnuts.
For those of you who miss REAL Wonder Bread (the kind you used to roll up in a ball to have breadball fights with), Flowers (who now bakes it) doesn't make it like it used to be at ALL. Definitely NO LONGER your go-to bread for the ultimate chunky peanut butter and jam sandwich.
Product dating at Big Lots is generally around 6 - 7 days, sometimes more. Far out dates at the bakery outlets themselves.

OMGoodness Ms Daisy - KRIMPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be RUNNING to my nearest Big Lots to hunt these down!!!
I grew up in NJ and just down the road from my house was a family owned grocery shop, small but mighty "Gentile's" market was. You could do all of your shopping there, that's how supplied this store was. In their bread/sweets area they sold krimpets. Have no idea who made these but there were three to a package and were wrapped in a heavy wax paper package. Oh man did I LOVE these tings or what?
I miss these tasty treats!!!

Pink Dogwood:
Where are you located now? Flowers is the distributer in our area for TastyKake. All the bakery returns for TKs go back to the distribution center to sell at the outlet stores. Only way to get at BL is to be there when the driver shows up. You tell 'em what you want, they go out to truck and get it and have BLs create a price tag for each item. How much they price the item depends on the driver's mood.
As for the Entenmann's, we actually have an outlet around the corner from a Flower's outlet, but for me, that's a 40 mile round trip. Big Lots is my go-to place normally for all my bread items.

Maybe I'll have to go there for the first time. I moved my mom here last year and she is having withdrawal symptoms - no Entenmanns. We do have some in the local stores, but it's a VERY small selection. When she lived back east she lived an hour away from the Entenmanns factory. She would come home with a dozen boxes and stuff the basement freezer until the next trip.

I grew up eating Tastykakes and Entenmans. Now, we rarely buy them b/c we know they'll be gone in a flash!

Rite Aid sells scented candles that come in Entenmann's boxes and smell like their cakes - I have the pound cake and coffee cake. They are so cute. I sent one to my cousin who enjoyed hundreds of coffee gatherings with her mother and mine over the years. It made her cry
