I've had that happen quite a few times with meijer organic extra large eggs. Double yolks are supposed to be good luck!

That would make me question the candling procedure where the eggs were packed. If a double yolk gets past candling, so could fertilized eggs, quitters, eggs with blood spots, etc. For commercial markets, double yolks are supposed to be set aside, not shipped in with other eggs. They are sold as 'ungraded' eggs.

I buy double yolk ones from my egg lady - I like my eggs with more yolk, less white.

Thanks for the lucky comments...so far, eggs were clean, no blood spots, & were tastier ( used them for scrambled eggs).. didn't know you could order them that way..??

Wow! Thanks for the info Dead eye! I learned something. I've always heard double yolks were good luck too.

I don't care a lot for chicken periods. I was raised by my Grandmother. She'd bring chickens from what was then the country (relatives) and well I won't go into detail but that's why I don't eat much meat. I'm not a vegetarian, but I could easily be one.

We used to be able to buy double yolk eggs by the dozen but have not seen the in stores for years.

Daisy, what's a "quitter?" {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

There used to be a farm stand that not only had produce and old-fashioned candy, but they sold double yoke eggs by the dozen. I like the yokes for sunny side up eggs, but unfortunately the stand - whose owners were quite elderly - closed down last year. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown} They had good home-made candy apples too!
