@JoyFilled Warrior    I go along with the float test.

The Interesting thing is, Iv'e had ALL of those in the SAME CARTON.  Granted they are the regular store bought eggs, but you should be able to trust the Expry date. Woman Frustrated

Hmm.  Did I post the terrific Amz Prime egg prices here?

Or just in my imagination?

IMPORTANT Information: I copied this from the internet.  Be sure to read this before you throw out your eggs.

If the egg sinks to the bottom, it's fresh and good to eat; if it floats, it's old and should be discarded. Explanation: As an egg ages, the air pocket inside it grows larger, causing it to float in water; therefore, a floating egg indicates it's not fresh and should not be consumed.

I also so learned on America's Test Kitchen that if an egg is stored properly, they last up to 4 months.  I have tried this and the eggs definitely last that long IF they are stored in a styrofoam egg carton or a plastic holder that has air holes so they don't continue to loose moisture.

There were fewer eggs a couple weeks at my local Kroger, but I haven't experienced a total lack of availability. There were plenty in stock yesterday.

Re: Eggs yesterday

[ Edited ]

A lot of people stopped buying them due to price.

Now stores are complaining they are losing money. They don't have to lose money. If the eggs are not selling sell them at cost to at least get your money back? Stores don't have to continue to see how much they can get for them?

If Trader Joe's can sell them for $3.49 dz as of week of the 11th of Feb so can other stores.

$4.49 for a dozen in my local store this week.  They offer them under three dollars every couple of weeks.

I would imagine many many people could afford to keep buying their usual amount of eggs if they stopped paying for trips to Starbucks ect...  Sometimes it comes down to what do you want the most, sausage and eggs or pretty nails.

I have half a dozen in my fridge right now that just went past the sell by date.  I do not eat many eggs, but do like to have them on hand.
