I've been paying under $2.00 a dozen for months.

18 large Great Value eggs at Walmart are $3.82. I  checked my purchase history and in December 2020 the price was $1.79. .

I checked prices for a few other items in the order and all have increased in price.

NE Texas a dozen large eggs are $2.69 this week and the 18 count is $3.89.  I only buy the 6 ct. since it only for myself $1.89.

@scruffsmom- Our Kroger owned store here in So. Cal. is called Ralphs.  This week their 18 ct. large eggs are $3.99 Dig. Coupon.  They haven't been $2.99 here for a long time.

As of August 19, we paid $3.49 for a dozen. The last time we got them, the store had a coupon and they were only $1.49.

We switched to 5 dozen carton for approximately $13 at Walmart. We then transfer them to 18 egg plastic cartons. We make complete breakfasts frequently and also bake, so we use a lot of eggs.

Please remember Cage Free is not the same as Free  Range or Pasture Raised.  Cage Free just means the chickens are crammed into rooms rather than cages.

I buy Nellie's and Vitale, both of which source their eggs from small farms that meet their standards.  I'm not sure if those are avaiable everywhere or just my neck of the woods.  They are between 7 and 8 dollars a dozen; sometimes a bit more.

It's not a perfect world for animals we count on for food, but I try to do whatever little bit I can to make it better.
