Over the years I have had three and we use them probably every week for hard boiled eggs--that are never a problem to peel.

Also, I do not fool with poking the hole in the eggs and never have a problem. And a little vinegar takes the water stains off the metal bottom in a jiffy.

Yes, vinegar to clean the plate.  @Sooner do you have shorter cook times than the directions call for since you don't poke a hole in the wide part of the egg?

I bought one for my son to take to college. It worked so well I bought one for myself!! I absolutely love it. I always poke a hole; no big deal. I usually make hard boiled. Put in some ice water to help peeling process. For those who make poached eggs in it, do you grease the little plastic pan?

I just did eggs in this machine this a.m. and it works great. Have had it for many years now. Yes you need to poke a hole in the eggs--I do that on the top not matter which end it is up----am making spud salad today.

@monicakm  Thanks for starting this thread, dont know why I never thought about an egg cooker and the convenience.  And, with free shipping yesterday win/win for me.  I also purchased one for my neighbor who just had heart surgery needing conveniences but also realizes 3 eggs/week is his maximum.

@monicakm No.  I just fill up the little cup to the "hard" mark, pour it in and let it go.  There are times they may sit awhile before I take them out after it is turned off, but they still peel ok.  I just don't like poking a hole in them.

Once in awhile I do have one pop open while cooking, never makes a mess just the shell splits and some egg white is visible.  But I really believe that the egg has a microscopic crack that isn't apparent when I put it in, so all in all I'm glad it split and I can toss it out.  That hardly ever happens though.  I'm really careful about eggs and dates and possible contamination.  Don't want to eat a bad egg or one that's been esposed to something along the way through a crack.

I don't remember the brandname but it has an expansion ring to raise the lid and that allows room for a full dozen eggs on two layers. I seriously love that egg cooker! Enjoy! I think it came from HSN many moons ago.

I have this and wouldn't be without one.  I use it exclusively for hard boiled eggs.  I love the simplicity because you use the same amount of water regardless of how many eggs you're cooking, with the amout of water depending on how you want them cooked.

There's virtually no cleanup with this cooker, either. Even if your water's not hard, you may end up with some deposits on the stainless steel bottom from the calcium in the eggshells. Just pour in a little white vinegar an let it set for a while and it'll be shiny as new.

And, yes, you need to pierce the wide end of the egg, which will be facing up when inserted in the cooker. This allows the steam to escape, so it's a necessary step.

@colleena

If my mother were still alive, she would still be on me about protein in the morning.  I bet she would love this little jewel.  Mine will be here tomorrow.

You're welcome Smiley Happy
