@TheMemphisVette When you say Ingles generic store brand are you referring to the Laura Lynn brand? If so at my Ingles a dozen LL large eggs are $2.52 a dozen. Big difference.

It depends on what kind of eggs you're buying. I prefer pasture-raised. When I shopped at Aldi last week they were $5.49/dozen. After Aldi, we went to Meijer (a big supermarket here) and Vital Farms' were only $3.99 (on sale). Boy, did that irk me. Truth be told, I'll pay what I have to, to get the pasture raised. Sometimes I can get eggs from a friend, when her ladies are laying well. When that happens, she gives them to me, they're free.

@TheMemphisVette, clearly the real estate adage of location, location, location applies to grocery prices too.
Where I am the price of Ingles store brand eggs and milk are the lowest, sometimes considerably lower than competing stores.
Wish that applied to Ingles prices in general but it doesn't.

@haddon9 This week I paid $6.99 for a dozen Nellie's free range eggs. The quality is so much better than the supermarket brand. A couple of weeks ago, Nellie's were on sale $6.99 for 18.
Like you, I'm not feeding a large family, so I am willing to pay more for better quality.

@Kachina624 I don't buy Walmart eggs because the shells are usually thinner and the white runny. Not the best eggs.
I buy Eggland's Best if they are in stock. Today price is:
Walmart per dozen:
$3.42 EB Large White
$3.68 EB Extra Large White
$4.98 EB Cage Free Large Brown
$5.28 EB Organic Large Brown
$3.77 GV Large White
$4.78 GV Cage Free Large Brown
$4.72 GV Jumbo White
Organic out of stock

We prefer the organic, pasture-raised eggs. And they are noticeably tastier too ..
vibrant orange yolks, and thick whites. But they're not inexpensive ... the last dozen was $10.79. But for just the two of us, it's a nice treat.
