Dual handle vs. Stick handle?

[ Edited ]

I'm considering getting the TS on Evine. Dean brother's pan. I'm wondering what are the advantages of the two different handles. Stick vs. Dual. I don't have any dual handle pans(other than my large stockpots). Please share your preferences and why. TIA

Here is my thoughts....I ordered a big Cook's Essential set with the dual handles...thinking of storage only. Thought the smaller handles would store easier (& they do). However, I hate them for functionality purposes. You have to have both hands for draining things. To me this is awkward, when needing to use a spoon/spatula to get things out of the pan also. I would not order dual handles again.

Re: Dual handle vs. Stick handle?

I have 1 skillet with dual handles and I really like it.  For me its easier to pick up than the single handed ones.  My cast iron skillet is very old and does not have the dual handle, wish it did.  I have been tempted to buy a newer cast iron skillet with the 2 handles but I really dont need another skillet.  I dont think you would be unhappy with your purchase.

Re: Dual handle vs. Stick handle?

I prefer the dual handle because I no longer have the wrist strength I use to have.  I like the security of grabbing with both hands.  I've also found them more versatile because they fit better in my countertop oven without the long stick handles.

@TX-starlight

Functionality is what I wanted to know about! I couldn't think of how to say it. When watching the presentation, they used the stick handles. It occurred to me that they might be easier to use especially when frying, sauteing or draining foods.

 Thanks everyone for your opinions. Please keep them coming. It helps to hear what others have experienced.

Re: Dual handle vs. Stick handle?

I have a couple dual handle pans and I hate them.  Its frustrating to need two hands on small and medium pans.   I ordered theEvine stick handle configuration, as it has a helper handle on the other side.  If  you have little kids wandering around or a tight stove top, the dual handle might make sense.  I was so happy to see this, I've been limping along with my old Todd English hard anodized/stainless steel steamer for years.  The hard anodized bottom has holes on the inside bottom and is in bad shape from being burned dry a few times.  The evine pan seems to have plenty of space to boil water in the bottom unit.

@depglass

Thank you for your input. I think I'm going to go with the stick handle also. Do you think it matters which color, as far as cooking and wear, or is it just a matter of what you like? Which color did you get?

Re: Dual handle vs. Stick handle?

I ordered dual handles.  It give me more room when I have a couple of burners going at the same time.
