Re: Does anyone here have the Masterbuilt Patio grill?

As for the loss of heat when you lift the lid, it is electric, so it doesn't recover as quickly as gas, so only do it when you flip your food.

Re: Does anyone here have the Masterbuilt Patio grill?

We are using ours for hamburgers and steaks and are very happy with it. Yesterday I received the vegetable tray and pizza stone that are sold separately. Haven't used them yet. I cover the bottom tray under the grate with tin foil and remove it every time I use the grill and replace it - makes the clean up so much easier!

Re: Does anyone here have the Masterbuilt Patio grill?

I used the vegetable tray to roast new potatoes along side 2 NY strip steaks last weekend; they turned out great. I also used non-stick foil over that bottom tray, but it is a PITA since the heating element has to be totally removed to get that piece out. Also, cleaning coagulated grease out of that little "drawer" thing is annoying.

We like the grill OK, but food does not compare to charcoal-grilled IMO. I love the smoky flavor of a real fire. That said, the electric grill is nice and works fine, plus it is cute. It looks like a little robot standing on the patio.

my bottom tray slides up the sides if you just lift the heating element slightly. i dont have to remove the entire thing. i machine wash the small drawer.

Hmmmm, I just had a thought. I might try lining the little grease-catcher "drawer" with some foil, too. Then I can just lift it out and toss it. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I like mine and my father has used his for over a year. He does use a box with the hickory chips in for a more smoky flavor. I haven't tried it myself but perhaps it would give the flavor you are looking for SarahW.

I tried to get it out, but it was a no-go, Sunshine. I guess mine has a tighter fit or something. I removed the heating element to clean the inside of the grill anyway.

I also put the drawer in the dishwasher but after grilling steaks there was quite a bit of solidified fat in it to dig out first. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Thanks, Keba! I'll have to try that sometime.

we don't have to remove the heating element to pull the tray out - it raises up enough I can pull the tray out.

hmmm - wondering if tin foil will work scrunched into the grease drawer? I agree, it's not fun taking paper towels and getting that grease out before washing it. Even grosses the cats out Smiley Happy

in going back and re-reading the thread, looks like a lot of us have the same ideas to prevent more work with clean up Smiley Happy
