Re: Do you wash and re-use storage bags?

I heard it's not hygenic to reuse them, but unless they had meat in them, I reuse them several times.  I fill them about 3/4 full with warm, sudsy water and a shot of Chloralen concentrated bleach, let them sit flat in the sink for a good while, rinse and fit them over the faucet so they stay open and dry nicely.  I think they are awfully wasteful and environmentally tragic, so I use them very sparingly to begin with.

No doubt exists, I  think, that too much plastic waste is polluting the planet.

But there is also too much waste of clean  running water, which is scarce in some places right here on our own planet.

So when it comes to using and washing plastic storage bags for reuse in our kitchens.......

Seems to me that one  answer is to use throw-away bags sparingly and invest in dishwasher-safe  storage containers such as Lock and Lock or  their glass equivalents.

I  occasionally use plastic storage bags and throw them away after one use, but I  make liberal use of  L&L and glass containers, as well as glass Pyrex bowls with lids...........all of which go into the dishwasher and get clean and dry without running the kitchen faucet for many minutes.

I re-use my ziplock bags --- endlessly. I never put greasy food in it - mostly bread that I store in the freezer.

Never, I will never cross contaminate my food

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.
