That is a shame that your top cracked, happy housewife. My sis broke hers when she dropped a big old tea kettle on it. It was a pain for her to get someone to come out to fix it. She lost 2 days work when they showed up the first time w/ the wrong one.

My previous 2 stoves were also glass top, so I guess it just depends on the stove and luck. I have years and years of cast iron use on them and none ever cracked. Sure could happen, I am sure.

You can, as long as you don't drag the pot. That is from the LC website.
