Re: Do you say Supermarket or Grocery Store?

We just say "" I am going to the store"". That means the grocery store for all of us.

On 12/30/2014 AnnaBella said: Grocery store. Many times we just call a store by it's name..Safeway, Freddy's, Albertsons.

Supermarket, to me, a grocery store used to be a small convenience-type store.

I live in NJ and I always say I'm go to the food store or I'm going food shopping. I never hear anyone say Supermarket but I do hear grocery store sometimes.

Re: Do you say Supermarket or Grocery Store?

When I lived in NYC and LI we always said 'supermarket'. When I moved out west I never heard it referred to that way - it's 'grocery' store or, in my case, Ralph's.

Re: Do you say Supermarket or Grocery Store?

I say the name of the store as in Wegman, etc. Sometimes I say food store. I don't think people say supermarket to tell you the truth.
