Do you "doctor up" your canned baked beans?

If so, what do you add to them?

Thank you.

I add brown sugar, ketchup, a little BBQ sauce, a little mustard and salt and pepper. I don't usually add peppers or onions because I found most people like them better without it. I do bake in the oven and top with a few slices of thick sliced bacon.

These are better doctored up if you just use the plain ole pork and beans.

I start with Bush's Hickory Smoked flavor, but drain the liquid. Add Bullseye Original BBQ Sauce, mustard, brown sugar and minced onion, a pinch or two of garlic powder and a pinch of celery salt.

I get asked to bring them to potlucks and there is never any leftovers, no matter how much I make.

I have a great recipe for mandarin orange baked beans. Got it a hundred years agoSmiley Very Happy from a friend and re-discovered it recently. So easy and so delicious. Will post the recipe if there is any interest----and if I can find it again--been clearing out my kitchen---it's a mess!!!!

Wagirl, I would love to see your recipe for the mandarin oranges baked beans.  I copied one down from Respect that was on another thread but I always enjoy seeing other versions.

Thanks in advance!

I do the same thing except it's a must to use Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce.  I love baked beans and it's on my menu for the 4th of July.

Obviously I must live in the dark.

I've never even throught of doctoring up canned beans. I buy the Bush's Grillin' Beans varieties and enjoy them "as-is."

I fry up  some bacon and onions, add some molasses, (or brown sugar) mustard and horseradish, a dash of cloves and some chili powder
