Generally I do not have my table fully set. However, we have a game table in our rec room. At Christmas, I put a square seasonal tablecloth on it along with a pretty centerpiece and Christmas mugs and plates. It's just my way of displaying them.

No. I have a table runner that I change with the seasons, a Royal Albert tea set on a tray and a couple of other decor items that I change with the seasons.

No way would I ever do that--I think it looks dumb. My realtor wanted me to do that when I was selling my house and told him NO !! I put a few things on it, a runner and some decor ontop of that. Who wants to dust all that ?

We only kept the table set when we were selling our home. For everyday I wouldn't want to eat from tableware that might possibly have dust, etc. I always keep a tablecloth, runner, and seasonal centerpiece on the table though because it dresses things up visually.

I've never done that , but it always looks nice when I've seen it. We don't use our dining room table anymore, and haven't for years. Right now I have a nice tablecloth on it and an array of framed photographs and a few other things arranged nicely. It's up against the wall, with the chairs all on the sides and front.
I kind of did that a while back when it seemed like I was just putting all this stuff on there and it just looked cluttered and messy. I figured I might as well use it for something.
That's kind of how my whole dining room is at this point. On the opposite wall I have Rupert's crate which I turned sideways and it's up against the wall. I have his blankies and toys and such inside. Then I covered it with a tablecloth and have his remains, some photos I took of him over the years, a beautiful plaque a friend made for him after he died, and even a little golden retriever with a tiny stick I found on the floor after he had died. Rupert loved his sticks. His puppy necklace (that's what he called his collar) is also there with his tags and such on it. I miss him so much!

NO thank you, sales people!
I didn't see the presentation being discussed, but I do not think they meant to set the table and then leave the dishes there for many months at a time. I could be wrong, but I doubt anyone is going to eat off dusty dishes.

Dishes and glassware get dusty quickly. I mentioned the winter months as an example because with no one in the house, the house still will be dusty when we get back...even though it was spotless when we left.
If the set table gets dusty, there's another unnecessary job to be done before it can be used.

I don't want to misrepresent what was said during the presentation so here's a link to it if anyone is interested.

I don't and/or wouldn't. DD does.

Mercy, no, for the same reason I don't have every flat surface in my home loaded with bowls, candles, books and stuff in general.
More to dust and move just to get to the flat surface to dust there.
