So far, the most polarizing topic here seems to be Green Bean Casserole: people either love it or hate it....with all of the talk about it, I was kind of curious as to how it wound its way onto the Thanksgiving table. I was expecting to find out that it was a patriotic relic from WW II.....but far from that....it was developed by a home economist who worked for Campbell's Soup, by the name of Dorcus Reilly. She was simply out to develop a recipe using ingredients that most people had on hand. In 2002, she was inducted into an inventor hall of fame, but she had no memory of being involved directly with th development of the recipe.... she does, however, like to jazz it up by substituting carrots.....who knew??
