A nuisance! Messy, not worth the trouble.

Re: Do you keep condiments from take-out meals?

I gave myself a good talking to a few years ago.  I was a condiment hoarder, any and all ended up in the butter holder of my fridge.  Then I finally admitted the only thing I ever got around to using was the honey mustard dipping sauce and the taco sauce.  So I quit saving the rest.  I also lost my totally unreasonable habit of saving those little salt envelopes.  They corrode everything, coins, and anything metal that might be in your cup holder, glove box, or purse.

If you don't use them, please mention it at the take-out window or desk and they'll be happy to save the cost. The same is true for plastic cutlery and napkins.

If you do "collect" them, please keep in mind what I said about donating them to your local food pantry. In my city, we have a shamefully large population of homeless individuals, as well as families, who visit our food pantries.  They are very grateful to receive these - don't throw them away.

ETA:  Very important - this also applies to those bigger ones you might get at a hotel or breakfast bar, as well as the little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap and other toiletry items.  Your food pantry will be thrilled to receive them.

I  kind of wonder what the life expectancy is of these packets.

I think I should go through the ones I have in the refrigerator.  They are in a little Lock & Lock container but if they go bad I need to get rid of them.  I've had some for many years.

I wonder if the soy sauce is ok.

@chickenbutt - if you've had some "for many years", it's obvious you don't use them. So why do you keep them?

As for us, if my husband has any unopened packets of Arby's sauce left, I keep those, but that's it.

Yeah, I think you are right.   Sometimes I get where I can't throw some things away because they might have a use.

I kinda figured that maybe these packaged condiments probably have a super long life, due to the packaging.   But I have yet to try that out.  What I have is mostly soy sauce and taco sauce, IIRC.

Yes, indeed I do.  I keep them in a clear plastic container with a lid.  It's on the counter.
