Re: Do you have any unexpected kitchen decor items?

I have a set of vintage "gay fad" from Fire King desert rose painted plates.

Over the pantry door a swan cut out of wood and painted by my Dad.

On another wall 2 plates with scenes of children - one with a puppy and one playing in a puddle.

I have a few old small utencils from the 30's/40's that I didn't realize what they were when I got them---one is a glass jar nut chopper and a mixer, a rotary  egg beater, a small sieve and biscuit cutter as well as a french fry cutter. They had dried fruit/flowers/weeds on them to decorate and hang on the wall. So cute and rustic.

I put one of the vintage heaters they sell here in cinnamon color. It matches the  walls behind the cabinets. We love it.

Re: Do you have any unexpected kitchen decor items?

I think the only oddity in my kitchen is a teapot that I bought, almost 18 years ago when we bought this house.  It's not at all odd, and a perfect shade of red.

But the odd thing is that, in all these years, it has never been used.  I just bought it to put on my black stove (I had always wanted black appliances and I love black with red accents).  It has sat on one back burner of the stove all these years and has never been used at all.

I have an antique celery vase/glass that I keep unmatched silver ice tea spoons in and an antique cut glass spooner that I put fancy salad forks (the ones with the harp patern tines in--Reed and Barton is famous for that shape) and coffee and tea spoons in for dessert.   They are so handy to grab that way.

I also have an antique piece of iron work from Charleston that hangs over the cooktop.

Re: Do you have any unexpected kitchen decor items?

Our kitchen is large but we don't have a formal dining room so my colored glassware is on display in the kitchen. I personally think it would have been nice if the builder would have fit a dining room into the plan. Makes the house seem more like a cottage this way.
