I'm from the Northeast originally. When I grew up we made dinner. When I married DH, whose roots are in the south, I picked up the word 'fix'. At first I thought it was cute, but eventually it just became the way I say it. A friend called me the other day and I told I was fixin' dinner. She had a good laugh over that.

Which do you say?

Make dinner, lunch, breakfast, etc.

Cook or make.

Fix is what I do when I have to ""improve"" on someone else's cooking.

Prepare sounds like putting it together- like using a rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad.

I cook, make, and fix....whatever happens to come out of my brain and mouth. I never prepare.

I think I say make. Not really sure, usually I just go do it, and not always happily. I like to cook, but would enjoy more breaks from the everyday dinners than I have been having the last couple years.

Fix... more times than not. Sometimes, make or cook...

I'm in the Northeast and usually make dinner, sometimes cook. Don't really fix. I'd be happy if someone else would do the job sometimes.
