Re: Do you clean your own house?

Not often, & it shows{#emotions_dlg.scared} Seriously, if I could afford someone to come in weekly I certainly would go that route. In the meantime, I'll continue ignoring the dust bunnies under the bed & the fingerprints on all the light switches. At least the books get dusted occasionally when I pull one off the shelf to read it.

Re: Do you clean your own house?

Yes and no - if I don't clean it, nobody does - and I don't always clean like I know I should! I've never paid someone to do it. Quite frankly *IF* I could afford it, I still wouldn't know where to begin to find someone, how much to pay, do I trust them, when to schedule, etc. I would stress too much about the details of it I guess.

For the most part I live alone (one son stays with me while on breaks from school, the other visits from out of state twice a year), so I tend to do the heavy cleaning only when I know someone else will be around. Otherwise, I tend to think that if I can keep the clutter under control and vacuum, dust, laundry and dishes, that's "good enough" for me for everyday. I've been known to plan a party just because I know it will motivate me to get things sparkling again!

I had to laugh. Yes, I clean, I wash my dishes, I cut my own hair a lot too. Shazam! LOL and except for the dress, that's my picture cleaning the tub.

Yes! I wouldn't hire it done. Ever. Well, unless I was unable to move a muscle! If you want it done right, gotta do it yourself!

Re: Do you clean your own house?

Yeppers... I've cleaned all of mine:

*childhood HOUSE (helped Mom & Dad)

*childhood HOUSE (later years; helped Mom & stepdad)

*1st apartment (living solo)

*2nd apartment (living solo)

*1st HOUSE (living solo)

*3rd apartment (living solo)

*4th apartment (living solo, but hoping to move)

And it's my wish that I will always be able to. Smile

Re: Do you clean your own house?

I recently started having a woman come in every other week. She cleans for a very good friend of mine and that is how I found her. She was very upfront about the things she does not clean (display cases with collectibles). She charges $140 to clean my 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house (not including the basement) and it is worth every penny.

She dusts; vacuums; cleans the hardwood floors (I provide the floor cleaner); cleans all the bathrooms, including the showers/tubs; cleans the windows; wipes down the blinds; cleans the kitchen, including wiping down the cabinets and countertops, and cleaning inside the refrigerator; and vacuums the furniture (and moves it when she does the floors). I'm sure I'm forgetting something. She does not do the laundry or make the beds (beds are made before we leave the house every morning). She does a wonderful job and my house has never looked or smelled so clean. I am very happy with her work, and nothing makes me smile more than when I get home from work and my house is sparkling clean! My husband and I are out of the house long hours each day and decided that we no longer wanted to spend our weekends cleaning.

Re: Do you clean your own house?

I've always had someone once a week for 25 years until our most recent move to an area that makes it very difficult to find someone to trust. A great majority of break-ins here are tied back to house cleaning people themselves, their boyfriends, or relatives that mostly need drug money from the sale of your belongings. I mean when you really think about it, even if you are at home while they are cleaning, they still have access to everything (almost) in your home, can be taking "inventory", and eventually learn what is valuable! I hate housecleaning, and it hates me as well! I struggle with lower back spasms and a weak trapezius muscle. Just about every aspect of cleaning hurts me one way or the other now. So it my home "spic and span" clean? Nope. But it is "clean enough".

Re: Do you clean your own house?

Not very good any more with legs hurting so much. DH has troubles too but he won't even try to do anything so cleaning is needed. My son was over and he cleaned the tub out for me without even asking. Today I have to put the clean dishes away and laundry and other little things. I would like someone to come in but there are a lot of small collectables to be moved which are not real expensive but a lot of work to dust etc. My son bought a rug cleaner at a estate sale yesterday so hoping it will do a good job for I have 2 cats.

I work and also clean. It's hard sometimes, because I"m tired when I come home. But I do it. I clean weekdays. I leave weekend to relax.

Re: Do you clean your own house?

My sister's maid stole her credit card numbers and started having things delivered to herself. That alone is reason enough for why I will never have a maid. Don't really want a stranger in my house anyway. I can do it myself or live with the dirt.
