Re: Do You Wash Dishes and Pots with a Sponge?

White dish cloths, bleached in wash. Sponges washed in hot water then zapped in microwave.

Re: Do You Wash Dishes and Pots with a Sponge?

I do use a sponge.  I still have several pots that predate having a dishwasher and are too big to fit in.  I use it for about a month when I replace it.  I will use the old sponge to scrub places on the floor I can't get up with just a mop.  Messes around the cat dishes, messes around the trashcan and recycling containers, things like that.  I toss them when I'm done cleaning.

@Sooner  I always use a sponge with the green scrubby on the back. At the end of the day of washing the dishes and pots I pop it in the microwave.

Hubs and I have never gotten sick from a dirty sponge. My mom used a sponge too so I guess that's why I use one.Smiley Happy

Re: Do You Wash Dishes and Pots with a Sponge?

I grew up washing dishes , it was my chore , that and making my bed , I actually enjoy washing dishes to me it’s relaxing
although after working all day I wash everything I can in the dishwasher

For several years I’ve used Swedish cloths and scrubbing “ cloths “ ( which have a rough texture ) to wash dishes / pot and pans I buy at a local boutique
They clean dishes / pots and pans wonderfully , the scrubbing ones doesn’t even scratch anything I’ve used them on

Every night whether anyones used them or not they go in the small top rack of the dishwasher
they come out like new and sanitary
I also use dishcloths to clean the countertops / appliances and I use dish towels beside the sink to lay / dry anything that’s hand washed
Those go in the laundry basket for a load to be washed every few days

@Queen of shop And my mom never even bought sponges.  Probably because we had tons of dirty garden produce (from relatives) in summer and ate a lot of beef, which you wouldn't want to clean things with sponges when it's raw meat cleanup daily.

Re: Do You Wash Dishes and Pots with a Sponge?

I never thought I'd be writing a rave on a darn dish washing sponge BUT.....I tried a new one I found on Amazon (the "Mr. Siga" scrub sponge). It comes in 2 sizes (the smaller one was sold out yesterday but due back ) and this baby is the bomb. SO much better than that old trusty green and yellow one I've been buying for years. Mr. Siga is my new dish washin' buddy. What an improvement Highly recommended if you use sponges.

The ones I found are called

MR.SIGA

Non-Scratch Cellulose Scrub Sponge, Dual-Sided Dishwashing Sponge for Kitchen, 12 Pack

I purchased the smaller ones that are sold out now. These are almost fun to use......well almost.
