I'm thinking about making a meatloaf tomorrow. I had thought about a slow cooker, but in my heart of hearts that just sounds like a bad idea to me. I worry the meat wouldn't come up to temp soon enough to kill the bacteria that might be there.
Have you done this? And survived? ![]()
Yes, I'm one of those. . . ![]()

Although I haven’t done this recently, I have cooked meatloaf in the crockpot lots of time and I’m still here!

Several recipes come up when you Google it.
Here's the steps to take from the Betty Crocker website:

Yes, I've cooked meatloaf in my slow cooker and survived.....meat dishes and soups are about the only thing I make in my slow cooker.

I’m sure it’s as safe to cook meatloaf in the crockpot as it is to cook turkey breasts or pork roasts in them.
Meatloaf is a favorite of mine, and as soon as I can smell it, I want to eat it. I’m afraid it would be too tempting for me to check for quality control from a crockpot!

Absolutely. It cooks through. It needs 4-5 hours.
When I'm in a hurry, I make my meatloaf mixture and patty it out. I cook it half way in a skillit, pouring the fat off, add the mushroom soup and half the water with a little garlic, and let it simmer. Meatloaf with mushroom gravy.
If you use catsup, you can go ahead and add that when you brown both sides of the patty.
