I havent used one in years. I found that food is overcooked and taste leached out of the food. I prefer pressure cooking where taste is infused into the food and takes 1/3 the time.

It easier to hold/serve food warm from a crock pot

@LizzieInSRQ Welcome!🥰 That is one of the unfortunate drawbacks about using slow cookers! If some foods are left in too long, it can ruin them but THANKFULLY that has not been my experience!😁 It is VERY nice to be able yo keep things warm.😊

THANK you SO much for caring to share!🤗

I have had one since 1974 and I still use one. I make soup in mine during the Winter. I love to just have it cooking all day and when it is cold and snowing there is just nothing better than hot soup and the smell of it when you come in.

@Kitlynn Welcome!🥰 Yesssss! Just the thought of the HOT soup simmering when coming in from the cold is comforting! 😊
There are several posters whose crock pots are still in service fifty years and more! That is amazing, and a true testament to the QUALITY of appliances back then! I am doubtful that ANY appliance purchased today will be here a half century later!😁

No, for some reason nothing cooks right. My meat is usual Y overcooked and the veggies are undercooked. I've tried all different recipes and still no luck

@willomenia Welcome!🥰 WOW! I am sorry you have that experience with them, but certainly understand your reasons for not using one!😊

I just used mine.  Made a turkey breast in it for first time and came out great.  Last week made a roast.

One kitchen gadget not a waste of money for me.  I gave my bread maker away and never used.

I like using crock pot and especially in winter time because so many things you can do in it.

@Roscoe the Rascal Welcome!🥰 I am glad you are having such GREAT results with your crockpot! I know people who LOVE❤ their bread machines and some that, like you, have never used theirs!😁

I have fond memories of ALL the women in my family using Rival crockpots when I was growing up, and the WONDERFL dinners they made! They were proudly displayed on the kitchen counter or a shelf! They even owned crockpot cookbooks.😁❤ My dear aunt made an apple dsessert that was eye crossingly good!😁 I used one regularly for a time, but then I fell in LOVE❤ with pressure cooking. Nowadays versatile mutli use pots are all the rage and well LOVED.😊

Do you still own and use a crockpot/slowcooker?

@SandySparkles

I haven't read every post, so this has probably already been mentioned.

I stopped using my crock pot when I got my dog.  I'd heard from other owners that being at work all day and the crock pot going was torture for the dogs.  They smelled that wonderful chicken or whatever, and had to wait ALL DAY for pet parent to come home.

Yes I use my slow/multi cooker 5 or more times a week on the average.  It does everything my stove does ( except baking)  with a lot less clean up and work.  I can put food in it and cook it all day with none or less cooking on stove depending on what I am fixing.

When we are finished moving I intend to buy a divided pot to fit my slow cooker so I can fix 2 separate foods at once.

@Imaoldhippie Welcome!🥰  WOW! I LOVE❤ your IMPRESSIVE testimonial!😊 You certainly get your money's worth with such regular use, and I am CERTAIN your family appreciates the wonderful meals you cook with  it!😁

I had the same crock pot from 1974 until 2020 and then I bought a new one that is larger and easier to clean. I passed the one I had on to my niece and it is still working.

Yes, we use our Rival crockpot frequently. It was a wedding gift when we married in 1981. Will be using it till it no longer works. We have cooked so many different things in our crockpot. Stews, soups, ribs, desserts. What you can make in them is endless. I even use it when I can jams. We have a pressure cooker, multi cooker and another brand slow cooker. My husband uses  those. I stick with my Rival. It hasn’t failed me in 43 years.

Re: Do You Still Use A CROCKPOT / Slow Cooker, and why?😊

I have two crockpots one oval and one is a 9x13
I use the oval one at least once a week the other only on holidays
It’s so nice to come home to a prepared meal or mostly prepared
Meal I’ve worn out several crockpots
