Do You Serve SALAD at Holiday Meals?

My mother always had to have salad and I always thought WHO wants salad with all this stuff we're having:  Sweet potato casserole, green beans, dressing, gravy, turkey, cranberry sauce, rolls, about 5 pies and 4 cakes waiting to be pounced on by 8 people. . .

Salad?  Really?  Although we seldom had rolls until about half way through the meal because we always forgot about them.

Yes, we always have a salad, nothing fancy usually romaine lettuce, olives, tomato, and onion with some kind of vinegar based dressing.

@Kachina624 I had never heard of or seen a relish tray until we had a pot luck at work.  I had no idea what one wasn't, and it is still to me an odd thing to have on the table!  LOL!!!

Actually we did have 5-cup salad sometimes!  Anyone emember that?

I always serve a cranberry salad and have a fresh vegetable tray (as an appetizer) which I leave out on the dinner's buffet..

Yes, we always have a different flavor jello salad. made with whip cream, fruit, nuts,  and tiny marshmallows  It goes well with ham, turkey and even roast. It's a refreshing salad and light. You make the jello as usual and when it is starting to set you add all the ingredients let it set up overnight in the refrigerator and it is ready to go.
