Re: Do Most Area Grocery Sores Use Instacart in Your Area?

@ECBG    Are you saying you were in your car at Fresh Market's location and they charged you to bring your order from the store to their parking lot?  I'd call the manager and pitch a fit if that's the case.

I haven't been in a grocery since 2019 and have no plans to return.  I get everything at Walmart's pick up.  I wouldn't use Instacart because of the fees, tips, and problems I've heard about.  They become an expensive service.

@Kachina624

You were correct.  I had sprained my ankle and a FM employee brought the bag to my car.

Never havIng used Instacart, I thought it was for home delivery.

Re: Do Most Area Grocery Sores Use Instacart in Your Area?

The three major stores in my area HEB, Walmart, and a local chain all have free curbside pickup. That is a division separate and using an entirely different website than the store where we did Instacart during the lockdown. Our Instacart orders were done on the Instacart website.

None of our stores have a quick pickup option. They require at least an hour or more before items can be done on curbside service. Would they have defaulted to Instacart for an immediate pickup time? That is the only explanation I have. I really think someone processed your order incorrectly.

If you got an Instacart charge, it means they did the shopping too.

An Instacart employee sits in a store and waits to fill and deliver an order???

They gave me avaliable times and I took a 4pm.  I made the order at noon.

@ECBG   I repeat, I'd call and complain.  You got ripped off.  If they're going to do that, the customer should be told they'll be a charge.

Re: Do Most Area Grocery Sores Use Instacart in Your Area?

I just googled it. I read that for curbside orders more than $35 the fee is $1.99 and $3.99 if the order is less than $35. It does not appear that they use Instacart shoppers but like Ingles use their own employees.

@ECBG It seems an employee made a mistake in how they rang up your order. I would check with someone in management, explain what happened, and ask how to avoid future problems. Hopefully, they will reimburse the Instacart charge.

All of these services are a big learning curve for employees and customers alike.

Have Instacart using Wegmans on-line ordering. When was under the weather couldn't ask neighbor to keep running for me.

Joined Instacart for $99/yr....all porch deliveries free....they suggest a TIP fee & I just approve.

Don't use curb pickup.......... No lugging

heavy bags to and from car...great shoppers & prompt.

Re: Do Most Area Grocery Sores Use Instacart in Your Area?

My Publux has Instacart curbside pickup but they upcharge itemsi ndividually.

Yes, it costs but is a service. If i could do all that walking and reaching etc.,  i would do my own shopping. I could use a motorized shopping cart but you still have to hope ones available etc. Ive used this service a handful of times. I couldve had it delivered to my home but i wanted to save the deliver fee and  tip money and wasnt sure when id be home exactly. Publix employee brought out to my car.

The other day, i did all my shopping for my Coronation breakfast online while on my lunch and picked up after work. It saved me the time i needed to clean, decorate and prepare which with my broken back and foot issues takes me literally three times as long.

Ive has Walmart and Sams deliver but with Walmart i failed yo notice there is a minimum to avoid extra fees. I ended up with tip and delivery paying 42.00 for 18.00 order....ouch.
