Descaler for coffee machines

I have always used vinegar, but some use a commercial descaling, what do you use?

I use cleaning strength vinegar.  I buy it at Walmart for less than $2.00 for 64oz.

Just vinegar; no more than our coffee maker is used, there's no reason to buy products to clean it.

I use white vinegar and change the water filter at the same time. Kuerig makes a good descaling kit in a variety of sizes.

Laughing here.  Seems like last time I ran some vinegar thru was the last time there was a thread 😃

Thanks for the reminder!

Re: Descaler for coffee machines

I usually use a 50/50 water and white vinegar solution, but stumbled upon these on Amazon and thought I’d try them. A pack of 6 is $10.  That’s a lot pricier than vinegar but there is the convenience factor. 🤷‍♀️

Re: Descaler for coffee machines

We make about 60 pots a month, so I'm diligent about using vinegar about once a month.  I save the "used" vinegar and throw a small amount in the dishwasher about once a month and save the rest to spray on weeds which pop up in cracks.

You have to keep diligent in descaling your machine. Don't wait for it to tell you, I descale every single month.I have it on my calendar. I just use vinegar.

Re: Descaler for coffee machines

I have used both a descaler (from Amazon) and white vinegar.  I'm not sure there is much of a difference.  I feel better using a  natural product like vinegar though.
