I googled them. They aren't an American company.
Lock & Lock is a comprehensive household products company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Since its establishment in 1978, LOCK&LOCK has been exporting products to 119 countries worldwide.
In addition, LOCK&LOCK has 11 overseas sales units in USA, Germany, China, Vietnam etc., and 87 overseas directly operated stores in the world.
Nobody said that L&L is an American company. I think it's been known for a long time that they are a company from S. Korea. Used to be all their products were made in S. Korea but it seems like the ensuing volume required that they branch out to Vietnam and China.
I also agree with others here that L&L is a MUCH better product. I'm absolutely neurotic about food storage (childhood horrors - you don't even want to know!) and I use L&L pretty extensively. Unless it can effectively be vacuum-sealed, all my food is in L&L and stays fresh for ages.
Of course stuff like bread that is very perishable won't last months/years. I get a minimum 17 days out of bread in L&L and it's still very fresh. Before L&L I wouldn't keep bread for more than 2 days before I started to get skeeved out by it. I won't refrigerate or freeze bread because it makes it taste gross.
I can keep dry goods just in a cabinet in L&L, such as cereals, crackers, etc, for a couple of years easily and they stay fresh. Other stuff like nuts, grains, etc, I put in L&L in the refrigerator or freezer. Sometimes I do vac seal my brown rice in 1 or 2 c sizes and it's easy to store in the freezer that way.
But I've seen those Debbie's containers and they are pretty much junk. Big different between the two product lines!
