Debbie Meyer Food Storage Boxes...made in the USA

If Debbie Meyer can have her food storage boxes made in the USA and at a good price point, why can't lock & lock be made in the USA?

IMO her boxes are junk!  I bought the bags once & nothing stayed fresh like she claims & same with boxes.

As far as your ? - I don't know but Lock N Lock is a much better product..my produce lasts a lot longer in them!

Wow, I had no idea her boxes didn't work.  I have her kitchen dishwashing sponges and they are the best I have ever used.  I guess I will stop looking at her storage boxes.

I googled them.  They aren't an American company.

Lock & Lock is a comprehensive household products company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Since its establishment in 1978, LOCK&LOCK has been exporting products to 119 countries worldwide.

In addition, LOCK&LOCK has 11 overseas sales units in USA, Germany, China, Vietnam etc., and 87 overseas directly operated stores in the world.

I bought the Debbie Meyer ones years ago.  They were no different than Glad/Ziplock containers at the supermarket.  I wouldn't recommend them.

The boxes are a no,  On the other hand, the kitchen sponges are the best.  I have a whole box of scrub daddies that I havent used since trying her sponges.  The snow men shape are cute too.  Would not use anything else, period.

Nobody said that L&L is an American company.  I think it's been known for a long time that they are a company from S. Korea.   Used to be all their products were made in S. Korea but it seems like the ensuing volume required that they branch out to Vietnam and China.

I also agree with others here that L&L is a MUCH better product.  I'm absolutely neurotic about food storage (childhood horrors - you don't even want to know!) and I use L&L pretty extensively.   Unless it can effectively be vacuum-sealed, all my food is in L&L and stays fresh for ages.

Of course stuff like bread that is very perishable won't last months/years.  I get a minimum 17 days out of bread in L&L and it's still very fresh.   Before L&L I wouldn't keep bread for more than 2 days before I started to get skeeved out by it.   I won't refrigerate or freeze bread because it makes it taste gross.

I can keep dry goods just in a cabinet in L&L, such as cereals, crackers, etc, for a couple of years easily and they stay fresh.   Other stuff like nuts, grains, etc, I put in L&L in the refrigerator or freezer.  Sometimes I do vac seal my brown rice in 1 or 2 c sizes and it's easy to store in the freezer that way.

But I've seen those Debbie's containers and they are pretty much junk.   Big different between the two product lines!

@chickenbutt I was just giving the reason why Lock & Lock wouldn't have factories here in America producing their product.  Debbie Meyer is an American company and wants to produce her product here.

@saltysails and others on this thread, if you can find her older, original Green Boxes they are terrific.  They are a dark, opaque emerald green.  Not sure if they ever show up on eBay or garage sales but I would give those a try.

Re: Debbie Meyer Food Storage Boxes...made in the USA

I wanted the boxes but now thinking I should not do it. I love the bags, the key to all of this is to get rid of moisture every 3 days or maybe 4. Moisture ruins veggies. Also I do have some Debbie bags & also got cheaper ones too with same result. Fruit sits on my kitchen counter in a basket, I buy not ripe fruit knowing it may take 3-4 days to eat so by then it's ripe. We all try to keep veggies & fruit as long as we can but it will go bad. I wrap all veggies in paper towels then green bag, sometimes we forget about it but I always wrap in paper towels to prevent moisture.
