Re: Dan Wheeler over-eating again

Can not believe how mean spirited some people are!

Just heard Dan saying he was leaving QVC and he was very choked up to say the least. I have watched this man since he became a host and have always thought what a kind person he is and was very sad when he lost his wife. And what a beautiful tribute he paid to her in his blogs. He is obviously a good soul and I hope his sudden leaving didnt have anything to do with this shameful blog! I'm sad he is going but wish him the best life has to offer. We will miss you Dan!

Re: Dan Wheeler over-eating again

I think he said there was going to be a retirement show/party on December 29 for him with Rick.

There used to be a show called Home Improvements with Rick and Dan (or something similar to this).  There were some fun moments during that show.  Even though I am not at all in do it yourself things, I always watched it.

A memory of Dan for me was when a host was sick a few years ago he continued on after his show ended and filled in for the female host.

He presented Denim and Co. clothes and did a good job. Looking forward to the show on the 29th. Too bad it starts so late though. Looking forward to seeing his daughters.

Re: Dan Wheeler over-eating again

People are always complaining about the hosts eating during food shows. I have watched a few of them here and there, and to me they are so over the top exited about a food, that it is ridiculous.

They really do not need to actually even taste the food, they just need to sell it. The vendor is there to describe the ingredients and how to prepare and/or serve it. Personal opinions vary so much in food choices, that it really makes no difference how the hosts think it taste or say it taste, they need to use their mouths for talking and not chewing. (And, preferably not at the same time!)

(Personally, I see no reason to sell food on TV anyhow... there is such a thing called a grocery store that has all the food one could ever want or need.)

Re: Dan Wheeler over-eating again

Krimpette, Maybe he can't alone since his wife died, and has no desire to cook, So when they invite him over to eat something he is just starved. I went through a bad time in my life and I couldn't eat and had no appetite unless I was with someone. He has my love and support. And I will be sad to see him go. That's why he is retiring!! Maybe remarks hurt him and he can't stand the pain of people being cridical of him. So I enjoy Dan, especially free lobster. He' one of my favorites.

You said it so kindly about the ugliness some people have in commenting towards others.  I will miss Dan.  He said when he was talking to Sharon about "if it was up to me, I would stay at QVC forever."  I just hope it was totally his decision.  He is the oldest host and I hope QVC isn't pushing the older employees out-the-door like so many other companies.  He and Mary Beth represent so many of the customers in age and character.

Re: Dan Wheeler over-eating again

well you don't have to fret about seeing Dan eat too much as he is leaving, his last day is Dec 29th- and since he is single eating there is just as good if not better than a restaurant and he isn't alone to do it
