Re: DO YOU EAT COTTAGE CHEESE?

Nope.  I do not like cottage cheese at all.  I don't like the curds, small or large.  Growing up, we always had it in the fridge because my mom watched her weight so she always ate it for her lunch.  With canned peaches or pineapple.

Re: DO YOU EAT COTTAGE CHEESE?

Growing up my Mom would have cottage cheese and fresh fruit for lunch.

So growing up we always had cottage cheese in the house. When I got married my husband also liked cottage cheese too. Then my son would eat cottage cheese as a snack.

My son only ate PennMaid large curd. No problem, Acme carried it. Suddenly, Penn Maid disappeared from the Acme shelves. We have tried numerous other brands. They are not the same as PennMaid.

Never realized there were so many different brands.

@drizzellla   Penn Maid was always my first choice but, as you said, it has disappeared from the shelves.  I've looked for it at ACME, Shop Rite and Giant.

Hood brand is very good.  It's what I've been eating since the Penn Maid went away.  You might want to give it a try!

Re: DO YOU EAT COTTAGE CHEESE?

Thank you. @Citrine1. I will give Hood a try. Never heard of it, so that is one brand that I did not try.

We have been buying the Acme brand (Lucerne) because it seems similar.

When Penn Maid disappeared we thought it disappeared only from our Acme grocery store. So my husband went to every Acme within about a 20 mile radius of the house to look if they had Penn Maid. No luck.

Nice to know about Hood.

Re: DO YOU EAT COTTAGE CHEESE?

@drizzellla   I know what you're talking about.  When it disappeared from my Shop Rite, I thought the same thing -- that it was just my store.  Fortunately, another customer was trying to buy it at the same time as me and we got into a discussion and she's the one who told me it was nowhere to be found anymore.

I looked in every Acme, Shop rite and Giant within a reasonable distance to my house and couldn't find it.  Oh, I also looked in the local Shop Rite and Acme when I was at the shore and couldn't find it there either! (Cape May and Wildwood)

I'm sorry, @drizzellla , I forgot to mention that I found the  Hood brand at Shop Rite.  I don't know if Acme carries it or not.

Daisy low-fat for me. I eat it everyday with thawed frozen cherries. One of my osteoporosis foods I enjoy eating daily.

@Citrine1 Funny you mentioned that. We went to Ocean City, NJ last week. And we passed Acme on West Avenue in Ocean City. I was going to ask my husband to stop, so I could look for it. And then I thought it has been too long a time since it disappeared.

I was going to have to accept that it was no longer available.

We have 2 Shop Rites near our house, so I will put Hood cottage cheese on my list. Thank you.

Re: DO YOU EAT COTTAGE CHEESE?

I love cottage cheese.  I prefer the large curd, but I use the small curd to make cottage cheese ice cream in my Ninja Creami.  It sounds disgusting, but I had to try it, and when I did I just loved it.  I add unsweetened cocoa powder and make it chocolate.  I use monk fruit sweetener to sweeten it as I do not eat sugar.

For a meal, I usually put some cottage cheese in a bowl and sprinkle cinnamon on top, then add some fruit (usually berries) and top it with a few spoons of plain Greek yogurt.  I then top it with some sort of no sugar granola, seeds or nuts.  It is really filling and will hold me for many hours A favorite breakfast or lunch for me.
