Well, I finally cancelled the order.  It was supposed to be delivered on the 13th.  When I emailed the QVC team they said they would ship early this week.  NOPE  I'm not a very patient person so I'm through with this Honey Bell company.

Re: Cushman Honey Bells Order

I spoke with CS yesterday. My orders ( I shipped a few to others and myself, were to be picked on the 15th, and shipped on the 16th.

I thought due to the holiday Monday I'd give it a few days for Q's shipment email.

CS told me they received a notification due to the temperature they weren't able to pick them, but will do as soon as they are ripe. They said I could cancel at any point before shipping.

I'll hold out, don't want to wait until next year, and the giftee's want to wait too.

Was in Costco yesterday.   They have the CaraCaras which are the same as Honeybells.

They were as hard as rocks, so I didn't purchase them.  When they have some give to them, they are juicy and sweet.

The weather this year appears to be negatively affecting the crops.

It sounds like Honey Bells have had a lot of problems lately.  I think Allen (Cushman) retired just in time.

There's no "just in time" if you happen to own the grove.

Cara Cara and Honeybells are not the same.  Cara Caras are navel oranges while Honeybells are tangelos which are a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit.

@depglass  Allen sold the business to Harry & David a few years ago.  He stayed on as rep at QVC for a year or two after that, but now he's out of the rat race.

@qbetzforreal  Thanks good to know. I stand corrected 😃

Re: Cushman Honey Bells Order

Dead Qvc, what a disappointment this year with the honeybells, I'm surprised that you would have attached your reputable name to them this year. I'm so accustomed to your strict standards I can't believe you didn't cancel all customer orders. First of all the size was way off and badly bruised, maybe that's why you thought better of doing an auto delivery this year.
