Cuisinart or Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer.

I'm leaning toward Cuisinart because of the 3 year warranty, but it doesn't have dough hooks. Kitchen Aid only has 1 yr warranty & several poor reviews. Any opinions? I have bought a couple of inexpensive mixers & the slow speed starts so fast that they splash me, the counters & the walls.
