Re: Crunchy casserole topping instead of nuts ideas?

My 4yr old granddaughter suffers from the same allergies & I recently saw a recipe for faux pecan pie, a favorite of mine,  they used crushed pretzels in place of pecans.  Haven't tried it, but it certainly is on my "to do" list!

I usually make a Sweet Potato casserole that has a topping that includes crushed Pecans. My graddaughter is allergic to tree nuts, so pecans are definetly out.

Any suggestions of what I can use instead of pecans for that crunchy toppping?

crushed ritz crackers or traditional corn flakes ...... either of them mixed with a little bit of butter and paprika makes a nice topping for casseroles.

To top a casserole, I've used crushed Ritz crackers mixed with butter, or crushed saltines mixed with butter if I didn't have any Ritz crackers on hand. Either works out well.

@Nataliesgramma  I'm curious what you ended up using as a topping for your sweet potato casserole.
