I'm usually a HoneyCrisp girl but these apples are very good.

They have been on special at our local ShopRite for a few weeks. Last week they were $1.00 per pound! This week they're $1.49, but still a good price. DH loves them!

The Cosmic Crisp® apple is the remarkable result of 20 years of study and research by Washington State University’s world-class tree fruit breeding program. Classically bred and grown in Washington State, the Cosmic Crisp® apple is a cross of the Enterprise and Honeycrisp varieties. The large, juicy and red apple has a perfectly balanced flavor and firm texture, making it ideal for snacking, cooking, baking, and entertaining. The striking color and shape of the Cosmic Crisp® apple shines in fresh decor like wreaths, floral arrangements and tablescapes.

Oh yum, I agree! Cosmic Crisp are perfect for us. Looking at my purchase history, I bought my first ones on January 10, and have bought them in my delivery grocery order every week since!

The best/most unusual thing is that I have never had a bad Cosmic Crisp in all those orders EXCEPT one order where I bit into one and "pfffed" it out right away.  I had pulled the sticker off when I had washed it before eating, and when I checked that sticker in the trash it was not a Cosmic Crisp, but some other type that had been pulled by the grocery delivery person in error or as a substitution (IIRC a Gala, maybe?). Blah, I'm already spoiled LOL Woman Wink

Thanks! I just added them to my cart. I usually buy Honeycrisp so I'm looking forward to trying the Cosmic Crisp.

@sunshine45 - For what it's worth, the "crisp" in the Cosmic Crisp name is definitely accurate; these apples have a nice bite. They are just a bit less sweet than Honeycrisp but very similar overall (and often cheaper). We love them!

I like those too. I still like Honeycrisp the best. I have a crisper drawer full.

Honey Crisp apples have lost their original appeal. Now, they are bland and mushy. Changes resulted from breeding to extend their production period and growth in multiple regions. Several great articles about the changes in the past few months.
