Cooks Essentials Enameled Cast Iron Braiser (results)

[ Edited ]

I finally tried out my new Braiser. Took a FROZENIMG_1212.JPG English roast, an envelope of onion soup mix and a cup & a half of water. Placed in 325 degree oven for 3 hours and for the last half hour I added the vegetables. Smells amazing in my house. Serving with homemade mashed potatoes.

PS: this pan was a ODO for 39.00 it's the 5 qt. I have never owned enamel cast iron, read all the reviews on the CE brand and took the plunge.

LC is in stock for 330.00 for a Braiser 5qt. This one in CE is sold out.

I got the CE set in green and love it.  The LC is beautiful but just too expensive on my budget.  I think the Q did very well with this CE set.

Just wondering what is an English roast?  You're dish looked so yummy, I'd like to try your recipe!

I bought a set in blue and it is the most fab cookware.  I cooked a steak in the large fry pan and when finished pan was loaded with stuck on meat drippings....   it looked like it needed lots of scrubbing - but no -  I just drew some hot water and added Dawn and minutes later swished with a dish brush and was good as new.  Back to pure white inside.  What a wonderful invention.

Great question, I think it's a fancy name for a chuck pot roast😄. I've never figured it out, looks like a regular old pot roast to me. I bought it at a regular grocery store, no butcher shop. Anyway, yes, would love to own the real deal CL!! I bought an

As-is 7 pc CE set for $66. and love that too. It came in PERFECT condition. They're still selling it, and still a deal for 89.00 for the 7 pcs.

Thank you so much, I just just took a chance on cooking it frozen to see how it came out, and it turned out amazing. Tender too.

Hi, yes I love it so much and it's cleaning up perfect. I had a couple of stubborn stains from roasting a 5 lb chicken in the braiser, (lid off) and a few shakes of Bar keepers friend, back to its creamy white glory. I'm glad you're enjoying yours too!

I bought one also & have a nice chuck roast waiting on the counter  thawing.  But, after seeing you cooked frozen might just go for it.

I have other pieces of CE cast iron, including the lightweight, I really like them.  Can't beat the great clearance price!

your dinner looks delicious.  It's a chilly damp day perfect for a good pot roast!

I have the expensive LC/Staub and the CE enameled cookware and the CE is excellent quality. I got the 7 piece set when they introduced it to split up and give as gifts but kept the 2 qt brasier because it fits perfect in my Breville convection Oven.
