I ordered a while Convert-a-Bench for my kitchen. I later ordered a navy blue cushion from the same company. It looks so pretty in my kitchen. I have knotty pine walls in my kitchen with medium oak cabinets. I have white appliances with ivory Priscilla country curtains trimmed in a ruffle with tiny white flowers and in Wedgwood blue. I had an ornate wooden bench I bought from Overstock.com ( great products from them) but wanted to start brightening up my kitchen. I don't like wood on the walls but it is loved by everyone but me. The has pine has darkened due to the years since the house was built.
The bench is very sturdy and can hold the weight of anyone that has visited. Everyone that comes to visit loves it. The Convert-a-Bench will be great for extra seating when my grandchildren visit. It flips over to a table easily. I only bought one and in the years to come I can always buy another one. I got my cushion in about 10 days. It was $38.99 for the cushion and that included tax and shipping. No one else had a cushion to fit this bench properly. It comes in several colors.
Just a hint for another use for this bench.

This is a great review, and also VERY helpful to me since my kitchen is TOTAL knotty pine. Your description is so lovely I can almost picture your kitchen.
My kitchen is also very dark, because the walls and ceiling are ALL knotty pine. My appliances are a hodge-podge because they were 1960's built ins, so they can only be replaced by small, bare bones appliances that fit, whether they look nice or not.
Your review has given me hope for my setup. THANK YOU!!!!

@violann Thanks for the nice comment. My kitchen in a long kitchen but not as wide. I have a light oak kitchen cabinet on wheels to the right inside the kitchen door and am going to change that out to a white one also. My ceiling is white with a white 5 light kitchen fan. As I buy small appliances I have buying colored ones to brighten up the kitchen also. The kitchen has two picture windows with small windows on the sides so the light saves me the darkness. It does make it limited to buying any added things because you can't block the Windows. I can sit in my living room and see out my one kitchen window and my living room picture window at the same time. That is what actually what sold us to buy the house.
I am looking for two small pillows for each end of the Convert-a-Bench in white, navy, and light blue also. Just enough to accent it. We bought a small ranch house when we downsized 19 years ago. Glad I have a ranch as it easy getting around when you don't feel good.
I would put bright white curtains in your kitchen and that would brighten it up and if they yellowed over time you can bleach them white again. Lots of us love ideas from others as we never would have thought of it ourselves. It was a good decision with the white bench.

@MKR14, Turquiose, coral or yellow accent pillows look good with navy and white. Just a thought since you are looking for color.

@Preds I bet the yellow would look nice also. My Mom's floor was yellow and blue solid tiles when I was growing up. I also forgot I have solid bright lime green placemats on my table.
Actually the navy with lime and the yellow would be pretty IF the right design. I am having a hard time finding smaller pillows. I need more of a 12" x 12" pillow. I may have to make my own and get the foam pillow forms for the inside.

Have you tried Pier 1 or Pottery Barn?

@Preds I hadn't checked either site but will. I will go online as I am not near either store. I will check Wayfair also. It is fun buying smaller items that don't blow the budget. Thanks for the ideas.

Went to Lowes last night and they have a lot of summer furniture set up. Including some very nice blue pattered pillows. Wish could replace ours but they are still in good shape.

@traveler. Thanks. I will check out Lowe's as we are very near one. Wal-Marts pillows were all too big in the colors I am looking for. I have to watch what I mention in our house or the next time my husband goes out to the store by himself
he shops for me- even though I never asked him. Let's just say I do a lot of returns.
I do like to pick out my own things for the house because like the old saying
says,"If Mom's not happy no one is happy." He means well and I love him for it.
