Confused about vanilla extract.

I have a friend who visits Mexico very often and brings me Mexican vanilla extract.  In fact, she brings it to me so often that I haven't had to buy it in years.... until now. I'm at the bottom of the last bottle and need to order some from Amazon.

Is there a particularly good brand I should be looking for?

Thank you.

Re: Confused about vanilla extract.

I buy pure vanilla extract. Penzey's Madagascar, mail order, or Williams-Sonoma, Nielsen-Massey Madagascar,  both are the highest quality vanilla.

Mexican vanilla is also very good. Google is a great resource.

Penzey's has a good sale on their vanilla right now.  The sale ends today 02/02/2020.

I also used to get vanilla from Mexico when I lived in So Cal and it is great.  I don't bake much but I get all my spices from Penzey's and I really like their double strength vanilla.

Re: Confused about vanilla extract.

Thanks, everyone.

I found this one on Amazon and ordered it. I'll have it Tuesday with free shipping.  It was $37.95 for 8 oz, but it's not bourbon vanilla. I noticed the bourbon vanilla is more expensive.  Is there a reason I should have chosen the bourbon one?

The key words to me are pure vanilla.   I buy whatever is in the grocery store, or Sam’s.

Re: Confused about vanilla extract.

@house_cat  different vanillas have different tasres and purposes from sweet for cakes and pastry to smoky/savory.

Beanilla is a good source for learning their differences.
