Cleaning Stove - Only Myself to Blame

I decided to clean every square inch of my stove. I always give it a quick clean but I wanted to clean and scrub until the stove looked like it was brand new.

I was just finishing up, and took one last sweep behind the knob that turns on the burner. The paper towel must have had some Soft Scrub on it. It completely rubbed off the decal on the stove. Gone - now I have no mark showing the off position.

I have only myself to blame.

So please do not make the same mistake I did. Be careful. Soft Scrub does a VERY good job of cleaning.

Oh No!

Maybe use a black sharpie to mark the off position?

I use the Mr Clean Magic eraser blocks to clean my stop top with. Seems to work ok.

If you open the oven door and get the serial number and model number of the oven you might be able to order the decal as one of the parts. Then google parts for your make of oven. For now, since the knob is on the off position, use something to draw a tiny line where the off position is, or use a tiny piece of electric tape that you cut into a skinny line. You might have to buy a set with knob or knobs and decal or decals.

@drizzellla  I did the same thing. I cleaned the stove top with a special stainless polish and I was so proud of how nice lt looked. I showed my husband what a great job I did and he said where's the numbers for this knob 😬

@drizzellla Sorry to thear that!

I just finished lunch and was planning on trying out some new cleaner (for me) on my range.  Someone here had suggested "The Pink Stuff" and I'm going to see just how well it cleans.

Re: Cleaning Stove - Only Myself to Blame

I've had numbers or lines wear off frequently used items like a curling iron and a glass coffee pot.  I made a mark with red nail polish to mark the fill line on the coffee pot.  I marked the heat setting the same way om the curling iron.

You can mark the stove setting the same way.  Problem solved, I hope.

I have a habit of changing TV channels all the time and rubbing the markings off the remote buttons.
