@shellbeach @Shawnie This is what it says in the Recall. Since it's capped at $140 they should replace 2.
Those who own a household blender may choose between (1) a $70 gift card to purchase Vitamix products (capped at $140 per household); or (2) a newly designed replacement blade assembly that does not produce flecks.
Thankyou! I took a closer look at mine (it is the short under cabinet model) via a phone pic close up. Recently I had seen black specks on the outside of the container underneath the blade assembly and because my Vita is white I was cleaning them off the base unit. Occasionally I saw something on the inside which I would attribute to residue from food. Now I think maybe not that. This pic shows black flecks that are between the blade assembly and the plastic visible on the orange gasket if that makes sense. I don't see anything on the tall container but I have not used it often.

I think the $140 cap is for those who have more than one machine. In the FAQ section of the class action website, it says the following:
12. I own multiple blade assemblies and/or containers, but only one blender. What settlement benefits am I eligible to receive?
If you own one household blender, and your Claim Form lists one serial number, you are eligible for one $70 gift card or one replacement blade assembly, regardless of whether you also own additional containers and/or blade assemblies.

I noticed bits of black plastic shards in makiing a smoothie.
After I emptied the container, and washed it, I turned the container and base upside down, and shook the container, and noticed some plastic bits had broken off,
Got a full replacemt of the entire machine from Vitamix, and they sent me a dry container and the new Creations recipe book at no charge. Didn’t pay postage to send the unit to Vitamix. Or pay for return postage, It’s a great company, great customer service, and they stand behind their products,100%.
Recommend you turn the machine upside down, shake it, and see if little bits of plastic fall out.
Good luck.

@EatWell Turning the container upside down into a white paper towel I do not see specks. But upright tapping it firmly onto the towel and black specks come from the bottom. They feel a little like plastic to me. my question is whether when the machine is turned on do they get circulated up into the container thru the blade gasket assembly? I took your advice and I sent them a contact email with my model info, it is registered, and this picture. Will just have to wait to see whether they direct me to the settlement website or they decide to take care of it.

i did have 2 small black plastic bits fall out of the base early on. Thought it was just debris left in the unit during consecution of the unit. Never and has not affected the performance.
So maybe the shards did come out of the base unit.
Vitamix is good about taking care of it’s customers.
Good luck.

I got a notice also on this and I assume it was from the registration I sent in. I have two containers so I guess I would need two. I do have a question, how do I get an electronic signature on the pdf. I'm not using Windows 10 for very long and never had to do it on this computer. Is there an easy way to do it. I could have missed it but do we need the purchase date of the Vitamix? I bought mine and I got the smaller container as a gift. I did get a replacement blade not long as I purchased it because it wasn't working right and made noise. The new blade fixed it and it was easy to fix. The blade came with the wrench to repair it.
