Re: Church dinner this Sunday

It went well ! Somebody made a very good banana bread. I took home couple pieces of that.

The brisket was really good. Shredded up.

The older lady took home what was left of one loaf of the bread I made. I just make it for the 'oldy' people table.   Last yr they came and got it and took it in the kitchen for everybody. This time I made rolls and handed them off but kept the loaves of bread in my big ole Nash bag and I bought my own QVC saw knife.

One gal didn't want to make bread for thursday so she  said "can I take yours and pass it off"?  I laughed and said, "Sure, hun, but, by Thursday. can't guarantee if it will be as good as today".

So, as me and my pal was leaving it was pouring down rain ! We ran for the cars.

Good crowd, but, I've seen it busier.

One of my biggest regrets is not having my moms bread making skills.  We often had bread.butter or hot rolls as our Friday night dinner!  We all wanted that.  No soup, salad or entree needed!  My mom passed in 2000, and I never made bread with her.  It was delicious!

@SharkE I'm sure yours is delicious!

If you see a recipe that calls for butter, (real butter, only time I use it. I make exceptions LOL) eggs, and sugar you can't go wrong.

Glad you have memories of your mother. Maybe she left her written recipes somewhere.

I never knew mine she died when I was 5.

That bread would be worth driving all the way across Texas to have lunch at your church.  Have a blessed time with the fellowship and the food.

Re: Church dinner this Sunday

DH loves bread more than dessert........as a small child he would ask for another roll instead of dessert at restaurants.
