You might take a look at the video for the K40357 -

Genius 10-piece 6 Cup Mix Slice and Chop Set

Genius 10-piece 6 Cup Mix Slice and Chop Set

I tried another one similar to this, which was a piece of junk. This one has a lot more capability and more pieces. I mainly wanted to be able to grate cabbage (fairly small) for cole slaw in a hurry, with little mess. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when I got this one. The handle goes forward to chop and backward to mix, so it gets all the pieces and chops them - you can grate as fine or as coarse as you like. You can put in chicken for chicken salad and chop that, and you can add things without having to open it up - there's a place in the top to drop things in. The slicer blades work well also, and you can julienne with it. Then it has mixer blades - I haven't tried those yet but they can be used for cake batter, etc.

It has suction cups that hold it tight to the counter, so it's easy to use. And one of the best parts, it's easy cleanup. It's not one of those expensive pieces of equipment, but for someone who just wants to grab something easy and simple to work, and have it do what it's supposed to, I like it. The reviews are mixed, but seem to be more positive than negative.

I have this and love it. There are some bad reviews, which I don't understand. I did have trouble with the base not having good suction, so I called Genius and they sent a replacement. I have the Kuhn Rikon chopper mentioned in a post above and love it also. I would highly recommend both. Go to QVC's website and find these products and view the videos. You'll find many, many ways to use them that you would not have thought of. Good luck!

K37754. It's the best little chopper I've ever had in 48 yrs. of being married. I have also had the pampered chef chopper and it doesn't come anywhere close to this thing.

I bought this same chopper for my mother who cannot chop with a knife due to arthritis issues. She says this little chopper has been a lifesaver for her. The blades are very sharp, and really go to town on chopping whatever you need chopped. Definitely worth the money spent on this gadget.

I bought this chopper a few months ago and love it. No extra pieces to store and doesn't take up much space in the cabinet. I think it was only around $20 also. Can't quite remember. Easy to clean also. I would give it 5 stars.

Does it have to be manual? I've been through a lot of those (rotary choppers, etc) and they are in the trash. I have had much better luck with an inexpensive but very good food processor that grates and chops. The Hamilton Beach is very reasonable and has a big "mouth" for putting in larger veggies like potatoes for making grated potatoes.

Re: Chopper Recommendations Please!

If you're grating veggies I don't know that it's a chopper you want. They chop into little pieces like dicing. If you do a lot of grating you should look into a food processor. They have grating discs. I have a cuisineart and it's so fast and very easy to use. My 9 year old had all the carrots for carrot salad for 6 done in just a couple minutes. My mother does a lot of grating and keeps buying a cheaper mini food processors and they don't seem to last. So I recommend spending the extra, if you can, and getting the pro classic 7 cup cuisineart. It's about $100 on amazon

Re: Chopper Recommendations Please!

I think maybe I'm the queen of choppers. . .I've had a Cuisineart food processor for years and I love it for chopping, mixing and grating. For small projects I like the K38072 (3) hand held graters. When I'm working on a major slicing operation (ie canning pickles, making French fries, slicing a bunch of almost anything) K33975 works like a (VERY SHARP!!) charm. When I was given K37754 I rolled my eyes and kind of giggled; it does a great job chopping small amounts of nuts, eggs, onions, etc. and it's just fun to use. I leave my fp out all of the time, the other tools I keep handy and I use most all of them every day in one capacity or another.

I agree with Tyak. This is the most incredible invention ever. I use it constantly to chop everything. It is the best gadget I have bought in years. If it is Kuhn Rikon, you know it will be great.

Re: Chopper Recommendations Please!

My problem with a food processor is finding the proper discs and blades. Not enough drawers, so they get stuck in a corner cupboard. Unless I'm doing a huge amount, I'm faster just using a knife or my stainless steel grater.
