Someone else mentioned dump cakes, so I went through my cabinets and found a dark chocolate cake mix and a box of pudding. I Google chocolate cake mix dump cakes and found the below. I found it to call for chocolate pudding and all I had was vanilla. I used the vanilla instant pudding mix. I used the second blog recipe below, baked in a 9x9 Pyrex cake pan and baked for about 45-50 minutes. It turned out like a gooey centered cake, but not so sweet. I don't generally like cakes with icing and all that, but a plain cake is nice. This one was easy and quick.

Just the name ""dump"" cake sounds unappealing.

Yeah, dump cake isn't a good name, but this one is a dump cake and it isn't since you do mix it then put it in the pan. It is more like a 4 ingredient cake that comes out like a fudgy brownie in the middle.

Nice to fix when you're in a fix! Sometimes we have to take something somewhere fast! This would probably stay moist. Easy enough to frost!

I had a craving, you know, those kinds of cravings. I had already made brownies last week and don't usually keep the stuff in the house or I will eat it. I dug and found those ingredients and I cut it into small squares for servings. I had it with ice cold milk. It is actually better than my boxed brownies and next time I'll use instant coffee in it for a coffee flavor. Coffee highlights chocolate flavors,so that will be nice.

Mmm...It looks really moist and yummy! It does look like a brownie, doesn't it? Thanks for posting the recipes tigriss, and for sharing. This is definitely something that I would like to make for us.

I noticed recipe called for 9X13 pan and you used 9X9/ You didn't cut back on ingredients. It was just thicker then> I think I like yours better than pic blog recipe. How thick was yours, about an inch>
I make the best pumpkin dumper! I haven't made it in 2 years, you reminded me how moist, gooey and wonderful these cakes are. The chocolate looks the best. I may try a dark chocolate cake!! The good thing is I can make it organic, as I have some Oetiker cake mixes stashed away from Thanksgiving I didn't use!

ShoeKitty....I did want a thicker cake, so I used the 9x9 Pyrex for it. It was about 1.75 to 2" thick. I like a thick brownie and this turned out to be like a nice, thick, rich, fudgy, brownie. I just had a square for breakfast with my black coffee. They go great together.
I have made the pumpkin gooey cake by Paula Deen and used other fruits and things in it especially blueberries when they are in season here.
The box said Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake. I don't like most cakes because they are too sweet and don't like sweet icings. I love pound cake with fruit and whipped cream and dark chocolate. I will make this again adding instant coffee to the milk as coffee highlights the chocolate flavor wonderfully! The batter is like a thick brownie batter consistency. You could easily ice it with the canned stuff or a chocolate cream cheese icing (a regular cream cheese icing recipe with cocoa powder added or even add Kahula or coffee to that to make the cake chocolate and the icing coffee), but I do like it just as it came out with the chocolate chips in it and some sprinkled on top.
You could do it with a strawberry cake mix, strawberries, and vanilla pudding. That would be fresh and great with ice cream. Actually they all would be great with ice cream since they are denser than most cakes. You could do it with any combo of cake mix, pudding, and/or fruit/chocolate/candies anything really! Oooo blueberry and white cake with vanilla pudding....oh the possibilities. I may have discovered a cake that I actually will like just as most people like cake and icing. My sister loves icing like a kid, the super sweet kind!
