Hey fellow foodies, here's a question: Do people still eat/love Chex Mix? You know the party snack made with all the different kinds of Chex cereal baked with Worcestire sauce and sometimes pretzels and nuts.
When I was a kid my mom always made big batches of the stuff for holiday parties. It was always my favorite, favorite snack. It was even regularly served at parties when I was in high school. O.k., I hung with a nerdy crowd.
In recent years when I've made it for parties not a single guest touches it. No one. Nadda. Not even the kids. The pan goes untouched.
The taco chips disappear. The potato chips vanish. Even the icky sheet cakes from Sam's Club with the wads of blue frosting are almost entirely consumed. But the bowls of Chex mix remain lonely. I have to eat it all myself after the guests go home. Alas.
Has Chex mix fallen out of fashion?

I make myself a batch every Christmas. It lasts me a long time but I've always loved the stuff. I'm not big on chips or other snack foods. I also like the puppy chow made with white chocolate.

My family still loves it and so do I! I use an old recipe from the 60’s that my Mom and Aunts used. I make a BIG batch of it right before Thanksgiving and then another before Christmas and New Year’s Eve. My daughters each take some.
I use Chex cereals, Cheerios and thin pretzel sticks in it.
I just love love the Stuff!

I don’t know whether or not it has gone out of fashion, but I have always loved it. I have played around with the ingredients through the years, and I have had similar experiences where it just sat on the party table if other snack options were available. I will say for certain though when I toss candy in the mix before setting it out (M&Μ’s Skittles, etc) it always goes faster. Another thing people seem to love are the little round Melba toast pieces. One time I added an extra big handful of mustard flavored Melba toast pieces, and I had to laugh when I adults take a handful, pick out the Melba toast and the M&M’s and toss the rest. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

I love Chex Mix, I have not thought about it or had it in years though.

I don't make it but Safeway sells it in bags, in different flavors: original, savory, etc.

I think when it started being sold in bags in the chip aisle it was no longer “ special” . I still make it because I can customize it and DH likes it.

We make a batch of Chex Mix about once a week. My son eats it every night.
We mix Hidden Ranch powder dressing, dill and olive oil. It is our favorite snack.
