Cheesecake Factory - Did You Know?

I read an article today about the Cheesecake Factory that was interesting. We have one not far from us, and we go once in a while. The ironic thing is DH hates cheesecake, so I don't order it either. But we like the food!

1. They still use the original cheesecake recipe the founder's mother made in her kitchen in the 1940's. Evelyn Overton sold them to local restaurants in her hometown of Detroit.

2. In 1978 her son David opened the first restaurant in Beverly Hills. Each cheesecake is still made in dedicated bakery facilities instead of the restaurant, which means that it tastes the same in every location.

3. With over 250 menu items, The Cheesecake Factory prepares everything fresh each day in each restaurant, including salad dressings and sauces. Most chain restaurants don't do this. Each location has a kitchen staff of about 50, who start early in the morning.

4. If you like the brown bread - and we do! - you can ask for it to be substituted for another bread on any sandwich. It's official name is honey wheat bread. (Can't wait to try this!)

5. You can turn any slice of cheesecake into a sundae with ice cream, hot fudge, and/or whipped cream for no extra charge.

6. They update their menu twice a year, usually February and August, so their regular customers have more options.

7. Each restaurant is decorated in an EgyptianVictorian theme. The founder wanted it to be luxurious and comfortable. He pioneered the upscale and casual category in the dining industry. People can dress up or dress casually.

That is fun information!

They have one of my favorite dishes it has been around a long time and knock on wood I hope it stays forever.

It's the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps.  A variety of sauces and nice to now know thanks to your article that they are hand made.  Everything tastes very fresh. Smiley Happy

@LizzieInSRQ - I could; he wouldn't mind. But there's also a wonderful ice cream place not far, so we usually go there!

I do get it when I go with DD!  Smiley Wink

I don't eat out much any more but I've never had a bad meal there.  I can't say that about too many other places.

@beach-mom.  I like to order a big salad, then cheesecake, which I love, for dessert.  It has no calories if you eat salad first.  I like their Red Velvet Cheesecake.

I love Cheesecake Factory!  I don't go too often but when I do they tend to be very crowded with long wait lines.

When my DD had her baby two years ago I had gone to the hospital one day with my son.  KOP mall was nearby so I suggested that we stop at Cheesecake Factory. This was on a Saturday around 4pm.

Forget it!  There appeared to be about a hundred waiting in the lobby area and another hundred if not more outside of the restaurant in the mall.

We went to another restaurant with no wait.

I like to order the Crispy Crab Cake bites as an appetizer and then order a Factory Chopped salad as main (take home over half of it), then get a slice of Cheesecake to go (right now they have a new one called Triple Berry (it's pretty good); I also like the Lemon Raspberry flavored one.

@beach-mom  We love the brown bread too! Woman Very Happy

None of the restaurants are very close to us, but I buy the Cheesecake Factory brown rolls at Walmart and freeze them.

When I want one I just take it out of the bag and heat for about 6 minutes at 350 and they are tasty. Sometimes, just with butter or honey butter or jam, or even to toast and split them and top with pimento cheese spread. Yummy!
