Starting to get recalls now. The information is linking the listeria to the apples that were used in the making of the apples. Probably more recalls to come.

Thank you for the update. I wonder if anyone chose to give Prindables despite the news.

In the two recalls to date an apple producer by the name Bidart Brothers is the common link. Wouldn't have touched any caramel apple with a ten foot pole. When the FDA says don't I won't!

Yeah, but common sense can't be taught, it must come from within! You know, like The Force!

All we need is another thread on this subject!

The OP is stating that it's the actual apples: Shawnie (sorry if I misspelled your name), can you give us a site for this? I have 4 Granny Smith apples on my counter that I promptly pulled off the sticky labels and washed, so I don't know where they came from, but they are going into the garbage....I don't need Listeria right now! The recalls don't say what type of apple or where they were grown, only the apple supplier's name, Bidart Brothers which is located in California. The companies that have issued the recalls are Happy Apple and California Snacks Foods. More detail can be found by going to FDA.Gov, market withdrawals. The pertinent language that zeros in on the apples is pasted here. The language is the same in both which says that the FDA had a hand in crafting the language. Recall language:We have been working with the Food and Drug Administration in their investigation of the current outbreak of Listeriosis which has been associated with caramel apples. We recently received notice from Bidart Brothers, one of our apple suppliers to our California facility that there may be a connection between this outbreak and the apples that they supplied to that facility.

We already had that information.

Another recall has been released. It is for Merb's Candies. As in the other two Bidart Brothers is the supplier. And like the other two it reads to me like the problem occurred before the first of December 2014. And FYI I started a separate thread so that the information on the actual recalls could be easily found here and not buried in hundreds of posts about Mrs P.
