Has anyone noticed canned goods now being packaged in Aseptic packaging? It's like the boxes they use for beef broth etc.
I noticed on Amazon Whole Foods 365 has started changing over to the aseptic packaging.
Just a heads up since canned goods last 2-5 yrs depending on acidity of foods etc. The aseptic packaging only lasts 1 to 1 1/2 yrs.
I'm sure more companies will switch since the aseptic packaging is lighter weight for shipping while aluminum keeps going up in price.

In western Europe they are the only packaging I've seen for soups, most vegetables, etc, the last 20 years. most milk about 90% comes in cartons or bottles like this. Milk in the grocery store is on the shelves. But so are the eggs.

I haven't noticed the change because I haven't purchased any type of food in cans for about 7 years.

I haven't seen them but I just do grocery pickups and deliveries. I think it is a good idea for sure.
We use a lot of canned goods and frozen veggies especially--beans, green peas, corn, hominy, green beans, and especially tomatoes! Organic and no salt mostly.

I don't purchase much in cans. I buy fresh than frozen than canned. Mostly canned beans DH uses in some recipes he likes to make. He used to make meals to take to work. Since he retired he's not been making them.
I don't like to eat food from a can or frozen in a box or bag. I stay away from as much processed food as I can. I don't think DH really cares what he eats?
DH needs some more Cannellini beans to make Gumbo.
I may buy more canned goods sold in this type package over the aluminum can.
IMO frozen is better especially when it's fresh. I bought a lot of organic frozen corn. It's really good.
I usually eat meat with fruit. I eat a lot of fruit.

So far Amazon Whole Foods 365 are the only ones I have seen packaged like this. I'm sure more will change due to costs.
I like the idea of canned goods in the aseptic packaging because I prefer it over aluminun cans.
We usually have green beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions etc from the garden in the freezer. When we run out I buy what DH needs to make things he likes to eat that I don't care for.
It smells like onions outside from the onions DH pulled up. Some type of multiplier onion.

@Nightowlz DH & I don't ingest anything that contains any form of sugar anymore. Anything that contains an 'ose' is a sugar. Fruit has fructose.
By doing so, among other types of foods we avoid, we keep our blood sugar in check.
The fruit of today is nothing more than sugar bombs to us. They have been hybridized intentionally for years to be so. The fruit of today is nothing like thousands of years ago.
You also mentioned corn & beans...
We also don't ingest any grains...bread, pasta, rice, potatos, corn, beans, etc...
Starches also turn to sugar when ingested, which also raises our blood sugar levels.

I have not noticed any difference in the canned foods at the stores I frequent. Still a lot of them.
I buy fresh or frozen as much as possible. But do buy some canned goods. Canned usually has a lot of sodium though, so that is another reason I avoid them.
We love fresh fruit and eat it daily. My last fasting blood sugar was 80, so no issue for me. I also love a nice tossed veggie salad.

LOL!!! I already know all this stuff I eat turns to sugar. That's what I like so that's what I eat. I figure fruit is better for me to eat compared to what I like to eat. Chocolate. If I didn't eat fruit all the time I would be hungry.
I know the sugar in it ends in ose but I figure it's better than regular sugar. I must be doing something right. My doctor told me she didn't know what I was doing but it's working so keep doing it.
I know she's wondering why I'm not diabetic yet at my age. My dad ended up with diabetes in his 60' & so did my oldest sister. My sister wants to know how I can eat so much chocolate & not be diabetic? Sugar can't be what causes it or I would already be diabetic IMO.
DH makes all our bread. I will never stop eating fruit, chocolate or bread. I know I'm a carb junkie.
I'll be dead soon so I'm eating whatever I want.
